Basic RiderCourse

The Basic RiderCourse (BRC) is the best place for new riders to start once you have made the decision to ride. The BRC is conducted at a pace that results in successful completion for most novice riders. Successful completion of this course waives further testing with the Colorado DMV for your motorcycle endorsement.

Pre-Requisites:

What You Need to Know:

This is a 16 hour course that consists of a five hour eCourse and approximately 11 hours of motorcycle riding spread over 2 days. The eCourse can be done in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace. It will prepare you for your first riding experience and covers topics like basic operation, preparing to ride, and some more advanced topics like risk and riding, basic street strategies, intersection and curve management strategy scenarios.

Upon arrival for your first class session, you must present a copy of your eCourse Completion Certificate to your RiderCoach. Without this certification, you will not be able to participate in your scheduled class and will lose your full registration fee. The online portion must be completed no more than 30 days before your riding class.

On the riding range, your MSF-certified RiderCoach will guide you through the basic skills of straight-line riding, stopping, shifting, and turning, gradually progressing to swerving and emergency braking on a small training motorcycle.

The course concludes with a written knowledge test and hands-on riding skill evaluation. Once successful with the eCourse, the knowledge test, and your skills evaluation, you will receive a course completion card that you will need to take to the Colorado DMV within 180 days to obtain your motorcycle endorsement.

If you are under the age of 18, you must bring a parent or guardian to sign the liability waiver.

Required Riding Gear:

If you must reschedule and fail to contact us at least 72 hours before the start of your class, a $75 rescheduling fee will be applied. Cancellations and/or "No Shows" under that same 72-hour period will lose their full registration fee.
